Botox® Pay Per Unit: Why it Makes Sense for the Patient

Botox® Pay Per Unit: Why it Makes Sense for the Patient

In 2013 in the United States alone, 6.3 million Botox® injections were given, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Botox®, the most common wrinkle relaxer, is sold on either a price per unit or price per area basis.

With ZendyHealth, our Board Certified Providers perform Botox® treatments using the price per unit payment plan, as it is makes the most sense for the patient. That means, patients pay for Botox® based on how many units they receive.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to relax and smooth skin surrounding the face. Botox® commonly treats wrinkles between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and on the forehead.

Botox® uses a purified substance that is injected into treatment areas to weaken and contract muscles. The result is diminished and fading of facial wrinkles. The treatment takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime after the procedure.

Why Pay Per Unit?

Botox® involves a varying number of injections to achieve optimal result. The number of injections depends on each individual patient, extent of skin wrinkles, and the location of wrinkles. That is why, pricing injections per unit is a reliable way for patients to receive Botox®.

Pricing Botox® per unit ensures that patients will get exactly what they pay for. Meaning, patients know how many units are injected into each area of their face, and what the results are like. That way, if patients wish to receive future Botox® injections, they know if they should alter the number of units (either more or less).  Most patients require approximately 30-60 units for a full treatment in the glabella, forehead, and Crow’s feet areas.  Of course, those with stronger muscles and deeper wrinkles may require more units.

Pricing per area treated is the alternative price option for Botox®.  Comman areas include the glabella (between the brows), forehead, or Crow’s feet (right next to the eyes) regions. However, with price per area, patients do not know the amount of Botox® administered because the number of units are not relayed to the patient.  On average, each area typically requires 15-20 units for full treatment.  So next time you pay per area, you should ask the Provider how many he/she units are being delivered in that particular area.  Instead of getting the full 20 units, you might be getting less units but still having to pay the full the full price for that particular area.

Pricing Botox® per unit means practitioners administer the appropriate amount of Botox based on each individual patient’s needs.
