CT Scans are the preferred test for detecting kidney stones. Specifically, a non-contrast spiral CT scan is commonly used to learn if there are kidney stones within the body. Diagnostic imaging is taken of the kidney to find any abnormalities. If there are kidney stones present in the body, a CT scan will determine their location. This will better help your physician decide on a course of treatment for your kidney stones.
