Depending on the reason youre having an ultrasound performed, you may be instructed to stop eating at least 8 hours before the exam. Sometimes you may also be asked to arrive with a full bladder, although this typically applies to patients who are pregnant or who are to have their pelvic organs examined. The procedure typically takes around half an hour and requires no downtimeyou can resume your regular activities immediately after the exam.
