Dr. Banthia is a double Board Certified surgeon and a graduate of Stanford, UCSF, and Columbia / Cornell University hospitals. Dr. Banthia and his Medical Advisory Team are responsible for the vision of ZendyHealth and the array of services and procedures that can be delivered to the consumer in safe and cost effective ways. Dr. Banthia has specialized expertise in minimally invasive procedures and has delivered lectures to plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons and dermatologists throughout the country as well as internationally. In 2006, 2008, and 2011, Dr. Banthia was recognized as a “Top Doctor” or “Top Surgeon” in Silicon Valley.
Roumen Antonov, PhD
Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Roumen is a technology professional with a PhD in computer science and over 20 years of hands-on leadership and success. He is responsible for leading and assembling the technology product team, and building the best tools possible for ZendyHealth customers. He has a genuine interest in health care and helped sell his first startup to a global healthcare software provider. He has a track record of successfully building teams, companies, and products in different organizations; ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 companies. Before joining ZendyHealth, he worked at Amazon as a Software Development Manager and prior to that he was a CTO for a successful technology solutions startup. Roumen has a wealth of experience launching and running technology companies and has held roles such as CEO, President, and GM.
Director of Marketing
Justin is a graduate of UCLA with over 10 years of diverse marketing experience. He is responsible for building ZendyHealth’s relationship with consumers and providers, and helping them embrace and understand the complexities of the new healthcare marketplace. He came to ZendyHealth from PCM, a $1.4 Billion IT company, where he led a $60M B2B project and ran the lead generation & brand marketing departments. Prior to that he directed the marketing efforts for Gypsy ‘05, a multi-million dollar lifestyle and fashion brand.
As a key part of our marketing efforts, Kimi adds keen insight into popular cosmetic procedures that help women look and feel their best. Her career began as a model and quickly turned entrepreneurial after Kimi earned her MBA. In addition to her involvement with ZendyHealth, she is also the CEO of Shail K, a successful eveningwear dress designer and distributor based in Los Angeles.
Jeffrey Pollard, MD
Medical Advisor and Digital Marketing Council
Dr. Pollard is a Fellowship trained, double Board Certified surgeon and graduate of Duke, Vanderbilt, Stanford, and Tulane. He is a dedicated advocate of integrating technology and healthcare to provide a more empowering and personalized experience for patients and doctors. Prior to his current position as Director of Medical Affairs at 23andMe–the leading provider for directtoconsumer personal genetic information, he served as Medical Expert Network Director for HealthTap where he became a pioneer in the digital and mobile health arena, growing their Interactive Health Network to include over 30,000 doctors in 128 specialties. Before moving into the digital and mobile healthcare arena, Dr. Pollard trained surgeons around the country on innovative, minimally invasive procedures. In 2008, Dr. Pollard was recognized as a “Top Surgeon” in the Bay Area.
Andrew Berman, MD
Andrew Berman, MD is one of our Medical Advisors and has been practicing both Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Head and Neck Surgery in the Beverly Hills area. He is an Attending Surgeon at CedarsSinai Hospital as well as Olympia Medical Center. Since 1998, Dr. Berman has been a pioneer in skin care development; he has been involved with numerous global companies in the development of natural skin care products that have been featured internationally. Dr Berman has been featured in Vogue magazine as an expert in the Beauty and Cosmetic space and was also the host of ‘Beauty in America,’ an internet radio show with worldwide broadcast in the early 2000s.
Tim Silegy, DDS
Dental / Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Advisor
Dr. Silegy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and maintains private practices in Long Beach and Newport Beach, California. He graduated cum laude from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and received his doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry.
Dr. Silegy completed a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the King/Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles. He returned to Colorado shortly thereafter, where, in addition to private practice, he was on the faculty of the University of Colorado as an Assistant Clinical Professor. The allure of the ocean and the warm Southern California weather prompted him to relocate permanently to Long Beach in 1999.
Dr. Silegy is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He has published articles in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Journal of the California Dental Association and teaches continuing education courses to physicians, dentists, nurses, hygienists, and auxiliaries throughout the world. He has also traveled to Latin America on several medical missions to help the impoverished. He was also the featured oral and maxillofacial surgeon on ABC’s hit television program Extreme Makeover.
Dr. Silegy practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with recognized expertise in immediate dental implant placement, surgical smile enhancement and facial reconstruction.
Dinesh is the Founder and CEO of Hatch Labs, a mobile technology incubator and captive fund, which launched over 10 startups since 2010. Hatch Labs built Tinder during an internal Hatch Labs hackathon in Feb 2012 and has led its growth since inception, including the installation of the current founding management team. Prior to Hatch Labs, Dinesh started the Mobile Group at IAC in 2007, where he served as a Sr. Vice President of IAC (NASDAQ: IACI). He was previously the VP of Strategy & Corporate Development at Citysearch, where he led early publisher acquisitions paving the way for CityGrid Media’s local ad marketplace. He has worked in Investment Management at Goldman Sachs, the Global Energy Practice at Arthur D. Little and was an early employee at Mainspring (acquired by IBM).
He serves as a Board Director and Advisor to several companies including American Express OPEN. Dinesh remains an active participant in Harvard Community Partners, having most recently worked with Literacy Inc. Dinesh earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
Ali is the Chief Operating Officer of Twitter and previously held the Chief Financial Officer position along with several other roles at Pixar Animation Studios, Inc. Prior, Ali worked as a management consultant both nationally and internationally at McKinsey & Company. Ali holds a B.A. in International Relations and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Vik Banthia co-founded ZendyHealth along with the doctors and continues to serve as an Advisor to ZendyHealth.com as it continues to evolve. He served as the website's initial General Manager and product architect, delivering high quality healthcare value to cost-conscious consumers. Currently, Vik heads a group of Strategic Product Units at Applied Materials. In addition to his engineering degrees and his broad technical background, Vik has a M.B.A. from University of Southern California.
Pete has 15+ years experience as a software developer and an engineering leader. As a longtime entrepreneur, Pete has built engineering teams focused both on building scalable enterprise software as well as lean customerdriven product development. Previously he held engineering and architecture roles at Ziff-Davis, Foxnews.com, and MarchFirst. Pete is an active blogger and conference speaker at various venues including TEDx, RSA Security, O’Reilly Strata, and others.
Jay A. Shorr
Jay A. Shorr, BA, MBMC, CAC IV is the founder and managing partner of The Best Medical Business Solutions, a South Floridabased medical practice consulting firm assisting practices with their operational, administrative and financial health. Beginning his medical career as a paramedic and EMT, Jay served in corporate America before taking his position as the Vice President of Operations and Practice Administrator for a leading Board Certified Dermatologist and Cosmetic Surgeon in South Florida until her passing in June 2012.
A Temple University graduate, Jay has served as a professional motivational speaker for nearly a dozen industry organizations, including the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, THE Aesthetic Show, The Aesthetic Academy, The Medical Entrepreneur Symposium, the American Academy of Facial and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, the American Academy of AntiAging Medicine, Vegas Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery, and more! In addition, he is a Certified Medical Business Manager from Florida Atlantic University.
Jay received the Honorable Mention Award for O/R Excellence in medical financial management, and has authored articles in Surge Magazine, Medical Office Today, Plastic Surgery Practice, Medical Economics, Outpatient Surgery, Skin Inc., Modern Aesthetics, Florida Health Industry and Med-Esthetics. Jay is an advisory council member of Entrepreneur. MD and a founding member and editorial advisory board member of the American Academy of Medical Entrepreneurs.
A graduate of Central Michigan University, Mara Shorr brings nearly a decade of marketing and communications experience to The Best Medical Business Solutions and The Best Management Business Solutions. She is a Level II, III and IV Certified Aesthetic Consultant utilizing knowledge and experience from her position as the Director of Marketing for a leading dermatology and cosmetic surgery practice in South Florida, as well as her days owning her own marketing firm, The Leone Company. Focusing on both internal and client strategies in traditional and new media, Mara brings her background in marketing and development from her time in public television, public radio and the Florida Film Festival into the mix. She was a nominee for the Orlando Business Journal’s 2013 “40 Under 40″, awarded the 2013 Distinguished Young Alumni from Central Michigan University and proud board member of several Orlando nonprofits, including Central Florida’s National Philanthropy Day event.
Mara has written for Florida Health Industry, Modern Aesthetics, les nouvelles esthetiques & spa, Winter ParkMaitland Observer and Orange Appeal. Todd Berkley is a nationally recognized expert on Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and consumer-directed health care issues. As President of HSA Consulting Services, LLC, he continues to be an advocate for consumerism in health care and is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars around the country. He consults with many new and leading players in the CDH industry, runs AskMrHSA.com, a leading HSA educational site, and recently published “The HSA Owner’s Manual.”
As HSA Business Leader for OptumHealth Bank (part of UnitedHealthcare) from 2005 to 2012, he was a driving force from shortly after start-up to making Optum a perennial industry leader in health accounts. Todd is a former member of and current consultant to ABA HAS Council, a current Board member of the Healthcare Choice Coalition, and has been an active member of AHIP HAS Leadership Council and ECFC Working group and other industry advocacy activities. He was instrumental in helping the industry tell its story to key lawmakers, regulators and administrators during the health reform debate, helping to preserve HSAs growing impact in health care.
Todd received his undergraduate degree from McKendree College in Lebanon IL. He earned his MBA at the Harvard Graduate School of Business and is a past president of the HBS Club of Minnesota.
Alexsa Grant is an Associate Director of Client Service and Vendor Management at Evolent Health in Arlington, Virginia. While participating on the Network Management team, Ms. Grant has been responsible for building provider networks for system–owned health plans, managing provider network operations, as well as designed and built the Vendor Management department at Evolent, from the ground up. Ms. Grant currently serves as the owner for ten national contracts across multiple health plan clients, representing over seven different ancillary services, 16 lines of business, and affecting over 92,000 members.
Ms. Grant also partnered to launch a healthcare venture of her own, Healthcare Deciphered. Healthcare Deciphered is a consulting firm dedicated to improving communities through working with individuals and small businesses in making educated insurance coverage decisions, to include benefits and ACA options that best-fit their employee needs and individual lifestyles.
During the course of her career, Ms. Grant has been involved in a breadth of healthcare delivery. From developing a program for placing the uninsured into state insurance and primary care clinics, to creating educational modules for the CDC, and volunteering in Ghana as a malaria researcher, Ms. Grant has always had a passion for helping others and engaging in the health care industry.
Ms. Grant attended Johns Hopkins University for her Bachelor of Arts in Public Health Studies and earned a Masters of Health Science from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
